About Basic French
Basic French is a free guide for Australians, especially retirees, who want enough French to enjoy a trip to France. It concentrates on the situations travellers actually meet: ordering, shopping, getting around and being polite.
Every phrase uses the polite “vous” form. The pronunciation guides are approximate respellings for Australian English speakers, so listen to native speakers as well when you can.
The site is published by Radiant Life Distributors Pty Ltd in Adelaide. Some links to learning apps are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes which apps we include or what we say about them.

Small-group classes
Beginner classes for travellers, taught by a native French speaker, are being planned for the Fleurieu Peninsula and online. To hear when they start, email contact@radiantlifedistributors.com.au with “French classes” in the subject line.
